Writing & Witnessing

Journal Porcupine
A well-spring for discovery, compassion, and generativity.

Writing in this format is an exercise of tapping into your unconscious, courageous sharing, diving play, and letting go. Witnessing the raw writing and nature shared by others is a beautiful, alchemical act where all involved are transformed in myriad ways. Inspired by play and willingness, deepened by your participation, and supported by the other group members, this group can help you:

  • Discover more of yourself through writing prompts
  • Draw out courage and offer healing through sharing and witnessing
  • Allow you to be present for whatever arises
  • Increase resilience
  • Open your heart and mind to the experiences of others
  • Develop generativity within the group and within yourself as you witness.

This powerful group meets monthly in person in Edmonds, WA. The group has a closed format, meaning there will be a set group from beginning to end. It is requested that you commit to the entire series and honor the group by missing no more than on or two, if any.

img_2607Take the time to let your soul flow through the pen. Let yourself and others become witness to the raw beauty that unfolds as you share. And allow yourself to receive the gift of silent witnessing by others.

Nature-based Growth Group

2nd and 4th Thursdays

20210408_180208
Discover your true nature outdoors.

Go outside!

By exploring our strengths, weaknesses, fears, and coping skills in nature, with others, we are able to gain valuable insights about ourselves while also exploring and reducing anxiety, increasing self-compassion, self-understanding, and uncovering blind spots. As we try new approaches, shift perspective, and allow ourselves to receive support from others, our minds and bodies learn new ways to cope, view, and be with who and how we are. During these sessions, we will walk, hike, balance, discuss, reflect, pause, brainstorm, play, create, question, explore, problem-solve, practice mindfulness, experience accountability and respect, and offer and receive support.

This group leans on nature and expressive and creative arts modalities to explore and learn about ourselves and our relationship with others and our environment. This may include writing prompts, movement (such as dance, a yoga pose, or physical expression), music, warm-up and ice-breaker games and activities, sounds (making them or noticing them), art making with natural objects, role play/enactment, reflective writing and/or sharing, and more. We will explore topics that matter to us, and these topics will emerge based on the collection of participants that show up for each group meeting.

Please bring what you need to be present, such as water, a snack, the proper attire to keep you safe and comfortable, a journal or notebook and pen/cil, and try to plan as best you can for any weather. I always recommend checking the hourly weather forecast for the time period we will meet so you can dress accordingly. We meet in most weather circumstances.
